About the program

Mercy Corps’ 3amaly project works with female and male youth between the ages of 15-34 of Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian origin, with a specific focus on female participants. The ultimate outcome of the project is to increase the valuation of women and youth for their active economic role within their families and communities. The project focuses on addressing constraints to employment due to mismatched or missing labour skills, poor business management capacity, and the lack of support systems assisting female and male youth to successfully prepare for and transition into the workforce, as well as supporting macro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to develop their businesses.

The project is composed of three components:

1. Increased employment secured by women and male youth in relevant sectors.
2. Increased creation of suitable employment and self-employment opportunities for women and youth by strengthened MSMEs, organizations, and start-ups.
3. Enhanced enabling environment for women and youth to pursue employment and self-employment opportunities.

This is done through delivering vocational trainings in market-driven skills, providing internship opportunities to women and youth, supporting businesses in improving, expanding, or sustaining their businesses by providing them with in-kind support and technical assistance, and creating an enabling environment for women’s economic activities by breaking some of the barriers that prevent women from joining the workforce.
